Floods are a natural part of Australia's water cycle and crucial to providing water to floodplains. Floods can also be damaging, presenting challenges for community and the environment.
In September 2022, the Bureau of Meteorology announced we have officially entered a La Niña event. This makes the third La Niña in a row, increasing the risk of rain and flooding over the coming months and into early 2023.
