This project will check water data collected by Basin community members against scientific data to build a comprehensive database of hydrological and inundation information.
Community flow measurement
Project manager: Murray–Darling Basin Authority with support from Basin government agencies, community organisations and Basin community members.
Goal: Engage Basin landholders (citizen scientists) who actively record local water data to check information against data collected by us and other agencies.
Delivery: This project is being delivered alongside the Environmental impacts of water delivery and operations project. We are working with researchers and community members to collect current and historical information on environmental impacts and local hydrology.
Anticipated outcomes:
- Build a database of Basin hydrological and inundation information to support sustainable diversion limit adjustment mechanism projects and inform the future planning.
- Demonstrate that the efforts of landholders to measure and understand the Basin, especially in their own communities, is worthwhile.
