Version 3 of the Murray–Darling Basin Water Information Portal (MDB WIP) is now live, including a range of new features.
The portal is a web-based product built by the Bureau of Meteorology in partnership with the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA), the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and Basin state governments.
It provides detailed information including water availability, allocation volumes, water trade and prices, and weather and climate for the Basin.
The Bureau is leading the development of the Murray–Darling Basin Water Information Portal as a central source of water information, removing duplication and improving efficiency for water information users.
Key features in Version 3 include:
- The addition of current and historic water quality information covering temperature, pH and turbidity.
- River schematics for five major catchments. These include interactive maps of the main catchment river systems providing detailed catchment-specific information on river flow and water availability in an accessible format.
- More water markets data – expanding the information available and contributing to the delivery of the Australian Government's Water Markets Reform Roadmap.
The Bureau will continue developing and enhancing the Murray–Darling Basin Water Information Portal based on user feedback, working with Basin state water agencies, the Murray–Darling Basin Authority and DCCEEW to meet user needs.
