An independent review has given the tick of approval to the MDBA’s decisions in managing the River Murray during 2022–23.

In 2007–2008 CSIRO Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yields (MDBSY) project published a series of reports documenting water availability across the Murray-Darling Basin, including an assessment of the likely impacts of climate change to ~2030 on water availability (e.g. CSIRO 2008a).

This report summarises the key lessons learnt from the Millennium drought for operation of the River Murray System and the changes made since then to improve water resource management in extreme dry conditions.
