The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) will call on water from the Menindee Lakes in the coming week to meet demands in the River Murray system.
The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) operates the River Murray to share water between New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, as required under the Murray–Darling Basin Agreement. To undertake this work the MDBA has built, maintained and operated a hydrological model of the River Murray.

The Lower Darling was subject to tragic fish death events in December 2018 and January 2019. The large fish death events covered a 40 kilometre stretch of the Darling River, downstream of Menindee Lakes.
