Major milestones of the Basin Plan have been met and good progress has been made on important components of water reform, according to an annual report released today.
Tumudgery Creek was disconnected from the Edward River in September 2007 to achieve water savings as part of drought contingency planning.

Following the adoption of Schedule E by the Council for operationalising, monitoring and reporting on Cap implementation, this audit was conducted in line with the requirements of Clause 15 of the Schedule. At 4133 GL, diversion from rivers in the Murray–Darling Basin was the lowest since 1957 reflecting continuing severe drought conditions throughout most of the Basin.

Under the Water Act 2007, the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) has responsibility for developing and implementing a Basin Plan for the Murray-Darling Basin.
