​On 20 June 2024, the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) hosted an interactive workshop on the Basin Plan Review’s Early Insights Paper. The outcomes from this workshop are being used to inform our thinking as we continue our work on the 2026 Basin Plan Review.

Salinity is a significant management challenge and poses ongoing environmental, social and economic risks in the Murray–Darling Basin.

The Basin Salinity Management 2030 (BSM2030) strategy was agreed by the Murray–Darling Basin Ministerial Council in 2015. The strategy commits the partner governments to accept shared responsibility for continuing action to manage salinity in the shared water resources of the Basin.
