Lake Victoria (Tar-Ru) is a naturally occurring shallow freshwater lake approximately 60 kilometres downstream of the Murray–Darling Junction in south–western New South Wales, close to the South Australian and Victorian borders.

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority held its first meeting for 2020 in Canberra on 11-12 February. In the wake of devastating fires, drought and flooding the Authority acknowledged the hardship many communities have experienced this summer and the difficult road to recovery ahead.
The Drought Emergency Framework for Lakes Alexandrina and Albert provides guidance to manage the Lower Lakes during times of extreme drought. It is based upon the latest scientific and operational knowledge and focusses on avoiding or mitigating the negative impacts associated with low water levels.
