Basin state governments and the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) are celebrating 20 years of The Living Murray (TLM) program – one of the longest-running river restoration projects in Australia.

With the warm sunny days still upon us, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to soak up the beauty of the Murray–Darling Basin or take part in the many activities and events happening across Basin catchments and communities.

This graphic summarises releases at Weir 32 (Menindee Lakes) between July 2016 and January 2019. Releases from NSW operations, for environmental water, and when the MDBA has access are highlighted, along with full descriptions of delivery conditions and demands. 

For the first time, water for the environment has flowed through a 2000-kilometre network of rivers in the northern Murray–Darling Basin, reaching the Menindee Lakes near Broken Hill.

The most impressive Murray cod breeding in 20 years is under way in the Lower Darling River as a result of environmental watering.
