The Authority must estimate the discharge of salt from the River Murray System into the Southern Ocean every water accounting period.
The annual assessments document the progress of water quality objectives and water quality targets as provided in Chapter 9 of the Basin Plan for Basin water resources, and provide an annual assessment of the salt export objective and salinity management targets.

This report describes an interim approach to estimate salt export (tonnes of salt) over the barrages using average salt concentration (salinity) from several locations within Lake Alexandrina and the estimated water flow over the barrages. The interim approach is required to assess the relative differences of three different methods for estimating water flow over the barrages. |
