The reports from this project, "Approaches to achieve sustainable groundwater management in the Murray-Darling Basin" and the accompanying "Literature review of approaches for groundwater management in the Murray-Darling Basin" provide information that the jurisdictions can draw on when developing their groundwater water resource plans. The reports identify the types of rules and RCLs that could be included in water resource plans to manage local impacts of groundwater take and provide a suggested framework on how an assessment of the need for rules could be undertaken. Guidance on selecting rules to address identified needs in different circumstances and how RCLs might be developed has also been prepared for different hydrogeological settings. A collation of policies and rules documented in available literature is presented as Appendix B in the accompanying project literature review reference report and is also provided separately in PDF and Excel formats.
