The Phytoplankton Monitoring Program (PMP) is a key part of the MDBA's integrated physico-chemical and biological water quality monitoring of the River Murray, as defined within the National Water Quality Management Strategy. It allows us to meet obligations under the Murray Darling Basin Agreement and Murray Darling Basin Plan.
The monitoring program is periodically reviewed to assess the effectiveness, utility and efficiency and to provide recommendations for changes that enable statutory obligations for monitoring to be met. The report includes reference to other past publications related to the PMP.
