The Murray–Darling Basin Authority has a wide range of monitoring and reporting obligations and responsibilities. These are set out in the Water Act 2007, Basin Plan and other arrangements. The Monitoring Statement provides information about the data sets that we use for Basin monitoring, and a summary of our monitoring obligations.
Monitoring is aimed at obtaining the data and information needed to assess the effectiveness and impact of policy initiatives designed to manage the Basin resources appropriately.
The Monitoring Statement provides a baseline for development of a Basin Monitoring Strategy, one of the key components of an integrated monitoring and reporting program.
