The 2024 River Reflections Conference is being held at Commercial Club Albury

This year’s conference features a diverse range of speakers from government, First Nations and farming communities, with a program aimed at fostering collaboration in water management across the Basin.

Murray–Darling Basin Authority, Chief Executive Andrew McConville highlighted the importance of bringing people together to consider the many values and interests placed on the Basin during a critical juncture on the Basin Plan implementation and forthcoming Review.

“One of the significant updates for communities at this year’s conference is the release of the Basin Plan Review Early Insights Paper by Authority Chair Sir Angus Houston,” Mr McConville said.

“The 2026 Basin Plan Review is our opportunity to reflect on how the Basin Plan is working, explore how we can respond to the impacts of climate change, and support the Basin into the future.

“We will be sharing the Authority’s early insights on the challenges we will all need to work through as we progress the Basin Plan Review, all as part of our commitment to delivering the review transparently.

“We will be discussing some complex problems, but also some exciting opportunities for the future of Basin water management at the conference.

“Environmental scientist and adventurer Tim Jarvis is providing a keynote, taking us out of the policy and program debate to consider what is possible when tackling complex problems.

“For those who aren’t able to attend in person I encourage you to jump online and register for the free livestream.”
