Mypolonga in the Murray Mallee region is one of 5 towns in the running to be named the 2021 South Australian Agricultural Town of the Year.
The award, now in its third year, recognises the importance of agriculture in South Australia and the positive economic impact the entire supply chain has on a township and community.
Mypolonga is in the Rural City of Murray Bridge near the River Murray and is known for its horticulture, livestock, wool, meat, vegetable, and dairy industries.
The town has continued to adapt and evolve in the face of drought and is home to a range of innovative businesses that are adding value to local agricultural produce.
Social connections in the community are also strong with a thriving primary school as well as many sporting clubs and community organisations.
The other 4 finalists in the running for the 2021 South Australian Agricultural Town of the Year are Kapunda near the Barossa, Kimba on the Eyre Peninsula, and Orroroo and Booleroo Centre, both in the state’s Mid North.
The 2021 South Australian Agricultural Town of the Year will be announced at the 2021 Regional Showcase celebration event on 19 November 2021.
