Transfers from Dartmouth Dam to Hume Dam have continued since August 2018 to support demands downstream. Transfers have eased during the last couple of months as inflows to Hume Dam, while still quite low, have tracked above those assumed under extreme dry planning.
For the month of January, without further improvements to inflows, the current release from Dartmouth of 5,000 ML/day is expected to remain until 18 January. Flows are to then be slowly reduced to 3,800 ML/day over the Australia Day long weekend before returning to around 5,000 ML/day. Without rainfall, these releases are expected to deliver January river levels at Tallandoon between 2.65 m and 2.40 m.
Releases may be adjusted if significant rainfall occurs in the catchment downstream of Dartmouth and if further inflow improvements to Hume enable a reduction in overall transfer volumes.
