Transfers from Dartmouth Dam to Hume Dam have been maintained at high rates over the last few months. Transfers at these rates have been necessary to support demands downstream.
The recent rainfall and improvements in system inflows have facilitated a reduction in transfer rates for the remainder of December.
Releases from Dartmouth Dam for the remainder of December and into early January are expected to be maintained around 4,500 ML/day. Without rainfall and local inflows, flows at Tallandoon are expected to reduce to around 4,800 ML/day (2.58 m local gauge height).
Releases may be adjusted if significant rainfall occurs in the catchment downstream of Dartmouth and if further inflow improvements to Hume enable a reduction in overall transfer volumes.
MDBA operations planning currently indicates that releases from Dartmouth are likely to remain at this level or decrease further in January. However if conditions turn hot and dry, there is a small chance that releases may need to increase later in the year. The next flow advice will be issued in the second week of January.
