MDBA operations planning has indicated an increased need to draw on water from Dartmouth in September and beyond if conditions remain dry. In the coming days, the release from Dartmouth is to further increase from 7,000 ML/day to 8,000 ML/day as additional water is transferred from Dartmouth to Hume Dam ahead of increasing downstream system demands. Over the coming months, MDBA releases from Dartmouth will deliver flows at Tallandoon that may vary up to channel capacity (approximately 3.4 m local gauge height).
These releases will be varied to better align with the natural variability of the lower Mitta Mitta River and are environmentally preferable to maintaining steady flows.
Releases will be adjusted if significant rainfall occurs in the catchment downstream of Dartmouth.
System conditions may change over the coming weeks and months. Another flow advice will be issued once MDBA operations planning indicates an increased or decreased need to transfer water from Dartmouth to Hume.
