Mitta Mitta Flow Advice – 10 April 2025

Transfers from Dartmouth Dam to Hume Dam are expected to continue throughout March and the coming months if conditions remain dry.

Published: 10 April 2025

Landholders and river users, including pumpers, on the Mitta Mitta River are advised to take into account the forecast releases of water from Dartmouth Dam and make any necessary adjustment to their river activities.

Transfers from Dartmouth Dam to Hume Dam are expected to continue throughout April and the coming months if conditions remain dry.

Releases from Dartmouth (measured at Coleman’s gauge) are expected to continue reducing to ~4,500 ML/day on 18 April. MDBA will provide a further update on flows in early May.

This variation aims to better mimic the natural variability of the system while transferring sufficient volume to Hume Dam to meet downstream demands.

All changes will be within the appropriate rates of rise and fall.

Please note system conditions may change. Another flow advice will be issued as release requirements change from those listed.

Check the Bureau of Meteorology to receive the latest weather information including warnings, river conditions and rainfall in your area:

Landholders and river users on the Mitta Mitta are advised to regularly check the current flows and forecasts on the MDBA website for more information on releases from Dartmouth Dam. Summary information about the River Murray system is available in the River Murray weekly report.

If you are observing bank erosion around key assets on your property, as a result of the river flows, please call the North-East Catchment Management Authority. They implement a riparian program in conjunction with the MDBA.
