As I write this, flooding continues to impact communities, families, and industries across the Basin. We’ve all seen the confronting images of crops, homes and businesses being inundated, people being rescued, and stock seeking higher ground to survive.

Many towns and communities across New South Wales and Victoria remain on high alert, while others are beginning the clean-up after water levels peaked. The floodwaters are also starting to have an impact along the river in South Australia.
River operators are monitoring conditions across the Basin and will make operational decisions based on inflows, and forecasts from the Bureau of Meteorology.
The MDBA’s priority is keeping the Hume and Dartmouth dams safe, capturing and storing water, and where we can, mitigating floods.
Visit your state’s SES for more information. If you live in NSW, go to: www.ses.nsw.gov.au. If you live in Victoria, visit: www.ses.vic.gov.au/get-ready and check the Bureau for the latest warnings, river conditions, and rainfall.
Local radio stations are also a good source of local flooding information.
With more rainfall forecast and a chance of further flooding across the Basin, please be safe and remain informed, so you know what to do in case of an emergency.
