Chief Executive Update – July 2024

A regular monthly update from our Chief Executive, Andrew McConville as part of the River Reach e-newsletter.

Published: 29 July 2024

Hi everyone, thanks for joining us for another month of River Reach.

This month I spent some time in the Namoi catchment for the Murray Darling Association’s National Conference and AGM. It was really good to see the councils from across the Basin come together to make sure that the current agenda for water reform takes into account the needs of the local community.

Read about the new agreement we’ve signed with Murray Irrigation Limited to help move water around the Barmah Choke for the 2024–25 water year.

We’ve also taken some big steps forward in the Basin Plan Review in the last 6 months. Read the latest Basin Plan Review progress update.

And if you missed River Reflections, there’s a great piece in the newsroom on how students are tackling water quality in the southern Basin.

Wherever I go, I continue to appreciate the very frank feedback that I get from everyone across the Basin - both the good and the not so good. As I say to the team at the MDBA, feedback is a gift and it's really important that we continue to know what it is you need and what it is that you expect of us.

Thanks again, see you next month!
